Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem ready for the Web Summit
The Grand Duchy will be present with its own virtual space at the Lisbon Tech Fair. A side event is planned for the 3rd of December to showcase the local ecosystem and highlight ones of its best startups.
Just because the sea air and the relaxed Lisbon lifestyle will not be at rendez-vous this year, it doesn’t mean you don’t have to attend the Web Summit 2020. Luxembourg is more than ever convinced of this and has therefore decided to have a virtual space inside the… virtual show.
Startup Luxembourg will represent the local vibrant ecosystem and will be the meeting place for all startup enthusiasts who wish to connect with players from the Grand Duchy. The initiative, led by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Luxinnovation, the Grand Duchy’s national innovation agency, aims at positioning Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem on the European map.
Fintech focus
A side event will be organised to give an overview of this ecosystem with a special focus on the fintech sector. As a leading financial centre – the second largest in the world after the United States for investment funds – the need for financial technology in Luxembourg is substantial.
In recent years, an entire ecosystem has been built around fintech, attracting startups from all over the world, but also giving rise to initiatives benefiting from local expertise. The innovation hub Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (Lhoft) is today the main catalyser of this dynamic.
A 45-minute webinar to get a 1st overview
The Lhoft, as well as the testimonials of 3 foreign fintech startups that have chosen Luxembourg, will be showcased during Inside Startup Luxembourg, a 45-minute express webinar, where the audience will be able to ask questions and connect with all the players of our ecosystem.
This webinar is part of a larger side event to highlight the Luxembourg ecosystem and its best ambassadors. In collaboration with IAPMEI Portugal, a pitching session is planned right after Inside Startup Luxembourg. Ten of the best startups from Luxembourg and Portugal will have the opportunity to present their solutions. The entire side event is free of charge and open to everybody.
Inside Startup Luxembourg webinar is part of a broader event the DIGITAL ICT WEEK organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and its Enterprise Europe Network together with Farvest and in collaboration with IAPMEI Portugal that will encompass a rich and varied programme, including International Business & Mentor meetings by b2fair, a round table with the presence of renowned IT experts, thematic webinars on topics such as investment attraction and international partnerships, virtual company visits & Thematic Tech Tours.
