The Maverick: A Reflective Audio Journey by CCLBL Member pIEt Haerens

27 Feb 2026

In a world where work accelerates and decisions are made at increasing speed, the space for genuine reflection is shrinking. The Maverick, a new independent audio documentary series created by Piet Haerens, responds to that tension by offering something rare: time, attention, and a different way of listening. As the document explains, the project was born from the feeling that “not more knowledge, but time and attention” were missing in today’s rhythm of constant movement .

The series follows a four‑week walking journey along the River Zêzere in central Portugal. Rather than providing answers or frameworks, it creates a reflective space where deeper questions can emerge — about direction, responsibility, and the future. It is explicitly described as “a practice in listening differently” and “explicitly experimental,” not a leadership, sustainability, or travel podcast .

A Sponsorship That Builds Meaningful Dialogue
Each episode is supported by a single partner, offering organisations a unique opportunity to align themselves with a broader conversation on change, sustainability, and systemic transition. Sponsorship positions an organisation within this emerging community and opens new internal and external dialogues.

Externally, it places the organisation inside a wider European conversation about new ways of thinking and leading.

Internally, it creates space for reflection among teams, encouraging independent thinking and “Maverick talent” within the organisation .

The central question guiding the series is simple yet powerful:
How much space do we make — in ourselves, our teams, and our organisations — to think, act, and sound differently?
This question sits at the heart of the project and reflects its purpose: to slow down, pay attention, and notice what is usually overlooked.

Professional Production and Creative Integrity
The audio story will be professionally produced by Achter de Maan, a collective of experienced audio makers known for high‑quality storytelling. The document emphasises that the series is an “independent audio documentary,” ensuring creative integrity and depth throughout the journey .

An Invitation to Join the Journey
Piet Haerens begins the journey in April 2026 and is currently seeking sponsors for each episode. The investment is €4,975 (excl. VAT) per episode, with sponsorship offering both visibility and meaningful engagement for organisations working in transformation, culture, sustainability, or regenerative ambitions. As the document notes, “If you want to explore what sponsorship could mean for you or your organization… I invite you to connect with me before March 1st, 2026” .
