Eurochambres Economic Survey 2025

13 Aug 2025

We cannot forget the importance and impact of the European Union and its organizations. Important information about trade and international co-operations if regularly shared in order to inform and support others.

As an example, every year, the Eurochambres Economic Survey (EES) reflects the mindset of the business world and identifies the challenges faced by European entrepreneurs. In 2025, the survey was conducted with the participation of 27 national chambers of commerce, gathering nearly 42,000 companies, the majority of which are SMEs.

Key results of the EES 2025
The survey results show that despite positive developments such as decreasing inflation and some stability in strategic supply chains, the European economy is showing signs of stagnation.
Although there is a slight improvement in business confidence compared to last year, this confidence remains below zero, with negative expectations, especially regarding employment and investment.
The main challenges for European entrepreneurs remain high labor costs, the shortage of skilled workers, and increasing regulatory pressure. The results for Belgium align fully with those of other member states.

A call to action for policymakers
Eurochambres urges European institutions and national governments to take action to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness.
It is crucial to:
• Improve businesses' access to international markets.
• Urgently address the skills mismatch in the labor market.
• Ease the burden of new rules, and administrative and reporting requirements.
